The Financial & Intermediary Broker Association has announced that SimplyBiz Mortgages chief executive Martin Reynolds will become its new chair.

Reynolds will take up the post on 1 May, replacing founding chair Adam Tyler, following his decision to step down from the broker association.

It adds that Reynolds will continue in his role at SimplyBiz Mortgages, and as an executive committee member of its Aim-listed parent company Fintel.

The body says that Tyler will remain as a consultant to the group throughout 2023 “to provide continuity during the transition” for the new chair.

The association, founded in 2018, is also currently recruiting an operations manager “to further strengthen its services to members, support its continued growth, manage lender relationships, and co-ordinate members activities”.

Tyler, who has worked in financial services for 18 years, says: “There has been so much change for the better over that period of time, and the launch of the certified practitioner in specialist property finance qualification seemed to be the right time to pursue those other areas of commercial finance that are beckoning.

“One of our greatest achievements as brokers together, has been to help the launch of a number of great lenders emerge into the market and it will be nice to continue to help that side of the industry grow.”

Reynolds adds: “The launch of the certified practitioner in specialist property finance qualification will be the next positive step for the industry, and Fiba will be at the forefront of this change.”

The association’s annual conference takes place on 21 March in Manchester.
